Not every hero wears a mask and a cape

Every April 28, Friends of Jack Foundation honors the real-life superheroes in our community — the nurses, first responders, teachers, and volunteers who make a difference for children and families across SouthCoast Massachusetts every single day. As our founder Jill Fearons says: "Not every superhero wears a mask and a cape. There are incredible people who do extraordinary things walking among us every day." Since 2021, this celebration has been a cornerstone of our mission — directly tied to our Superhero Program, which provides capes, masks, and stuffed animals to children in hospitals, law enforcement settings, and social services across Southeastern Massachusetts, helping kids feel brave when they need it most. This year marks our 5th annual National Superhero Day celebration, proudly sponsored by Souza Family Orthodontics. Follow us on Facebook for updates on our 2026 community superhero honorees and event details as they are announced.
