An afternoon that belongs to you

Five years ago, Friends of Jack started with one family's experience navigating the healthcare system with a sick child, and a community that decided to show up for them. That community is you.

Anchored in Community is our way of saying thank you. Not with a ticket price or a silent auction. Just an afternoon together at the Whaling Museum, one of New Bedford's most iconic spaces, with open bar, great food, and the people who made this foundation what it is.

No pitch. No ask. Just the chance to look back at what five years of showing up has actually built, and to be part of what comes next.

Friends of Jack funds child life specialists at local hospitals. These are trained professionals whose entire job is making sure a scared kid in a hospital bed doesn't go through it alone.

Most people have never heard of a child life specialist. But for a child facing a serious diagnosis, or a painful procedure, or just a long stretch away from home, they change everything.

The Hero Bear program puts something tangible in the hands of children admitted to local hospitals. Over 10,000 delivered every year. Each one a small anchor in an overwhelming moment.

This work happens because of your support. Anchored in Community exists to bring that community back together, celebrate what five years of showing up has built, and look ahead to what comes next.
