  • From corner of Main Avenue & NE Washington (The Park) head North (uphill) on Main Avenue for .6 miles.
  • Veer right on Snowden Road (also called N. Main Avenue). Immediately there is a stop sign, where you stay right and continue on Snowden Road for 14.1 miles and turn around at Snowden Cutoff Road (a right hand turn onto a gravel road). Basically, you ride Snowden Road until it turns into a gravel road.
  • Take Snowden Road back to stop sign, take a left to Main Avenue and take left on Main Avenue back to park.
  • To add 5.4 miles on your way back down Snowden Road, take a left on Bates Road (Cherry Lane Fire Station will be on your right). When taking a left on Bates Road, be very careful of uphill traffic on Snowden Road. Take next right on Tunnel Road and go until pavement ends and turn around and head back to Snowden Road. Great view of the Gorge on return!! On the ride up Snowden Road, take note of bates Road & the fire station so you will know the location while screaming down hill. This 5.4 loop is smooth road.

  • The pavement is quite smooth for the 1st half of the ride up, where it turns into very old chip seal (not super rough like new chip seal). The last 3 miles of Snowden Road is a bit rough, meaning there is some loose gravel in the edges of the turns (this comes from a cautious rider perspective - most riders would not even notice this or define it as "rough").
  • I recommend some gearing for this ride for there is a good amount of climbing. As well, I would REALLY emphasize to all to be careful when descending because it is fast with lots of curves and winds can gust (can easily reach 50 mph. I suggest brakes be in good shape - you WILL use them on the way down.
  • This is not an easy ride. The accomplished rider looking for a long route will definitely get a good leg burn on this uphill. There are many miles of "Wisteria" grades and steeper. Keep in mind, there are some breaks in the 14.1 miles assent where the road is flat or down hill. This is good for your legs will need it. This also means there are some short and steep uphills on the descent.
  • If the day is "blue sky", the views on this route are the gravy for it is beautiful! Plan to make a day of it (bring your picnic blanket or favorite lawn chair!).
